Bastogne to Al QaQaa

In December 1944, Hitler ordered a desparate attack designed to separate the Allied Forces from Antwerp to Bastogne. With Allied air support grounded by unforgiving weather, the initial assault by the Germans sent the Allies reeling. On December 16, the 101st Airborne Division commanded by General Anthony McAuliffe was dispatched to the Ardenne Forrest with only one standing order, "Hold Bastogne". Under-supplied, under-armed and seriously outnumbered by the Germans, the 101st bravely dug-in to the frozen ground and defended the important logistical road junction at Bastogne. On December 22, with the 101st surrounded and cut-off from support, the Germans requested their surrender. General McAuliffe had only one reply, "NUTS". The 101st endure relentless shelling by the German forces through Christmas 1944 until reinforcements could arrive. They had accomplished their mission despite the incredible odds that they faced.

Fast forward a few decades to Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 101st Airborne rolled into the much discussed ammunition bunker at Al QaQaa. Presidential Candidate John Kerry wants America to believe that this legendary army division failed in their duty to secure munitions at this facility. He sites as his evidence a letter from a disgruntled UN beaurocrat, a story by the New York Times (Jason Blair's former employer) and CBS (of Dan Rather Memogate fame). At best, we must assume that John Kerry is the worst sort of political oppotunist to impune these brave Troopers this way. More likely, it clearly demonstrates John Kerry's underlying contempt of our military (as demonstrated by his 1971 bogus testimony to the Fullbright Commission). Either way, this man should be soundly rejected in his bid to be Commander in Chief of the very troops he attacks.

CBS (Could Be Systemic)

Lately, the problems at CBS have become shockingly apparent to all. However, the problems are not isolated to one man or one news show or even to the news division itself.

On Thursday, September 16, While the controversy over Dan Rather using forged documents in an attempt to influence a presidential Election was raging full-steam, CBS Radio News reported with certainty that President Bush's post convention bounce had evaporated. This report may have also been on CBS TV News as well but I don't watch that anymore. Unfortunately, the radio station in my area that carries my favorite talk shows also runs CBS Radio News (but I am working on correcting this problem too).

CBS sited a Pew survey as their source for claiming that Bush had lost his bounce. Unfortunately, information soon came forth to dispute this hopeful CBS report. Worse yet, the contrary information came right from CBS itself. The CBS poll released the very next day, Sept. 17, indicated that the President's convention bounce had not "evaporated" but instead the President still had an eight point lead over Kerry. I guess the news division didn't consult with their poll takers first (or maybe they did what they have done before and ignored the contrary information).

Even their sports division can't get it right. During a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Denver Broncos kicked a field goal with time expiring in the first half to make the score 7 to 6. CBS Sports (who was unfortunately carrying the game broadcast) reported the score as still being 7 to 3. It obviously is not as bad as what Dan did but it shows just how diverse the problem is at CBS.

For more humorous information on someone else who can't get anything right when it comes to sports either (John Kerry), visit the good folks at Football Fans for Truth whose web-site is linked in the title above.

Oh Danny, Boy! You Blew it This Time

Dan Rather is a lot of things. He is biased, arrogant and not very articulate at 2 AM during a close election. However, he is not very smart. You see, Dan Rather thought he could pull a fast one on the American people by composing a hit piece on President Bush based on clearly fraudulent memos and statements by a top fund raiser to the Kerry Campaign who has changed his story about Lt. Bush's National Guard Service more often than Kerry has changed his policy on Iraq (and that's really saying something).

What Dinosaur Dan doesn't realize is that we live in a new age. With the advent of the Internet and Talk Radio, his bias no longer goes unanswered. Within hours after his 60 Minutes II report, the folks at Powerline (the link above) were on Dan Rather like Michael Moore on a Big Mac. As THE Blog exposed how these memos could not possibly have been written in 1972 due to the easily recognizable modern type face in them, the word spread across the new media like wildfire through mismanaged National Forest land.

CBS has tried to answer the many questions that have come their way including who the so-called expert was that verified these documents. They first claimed that they consulted with people who knew the style of Lt. Col. Jerry Killian. However, when family members came forward and stated that these documents were not consistent with anything he would have composed, CBS fell back and simply stated that an in depth investigation is underway. I suspect that the investigation will focus primarily on how to get out of this mess as gracefully as possible but will not really disclose answers to the fraud committed.

Thank God for this forum we know as the New Media that becomes more powerful every day. I suggest all people of good conscience and heart take part in it to counteract the lies and distortions of the mainstream media.

What Have you Done to Us Lately

There is a big controversy raging over the issue that John Kerry has made a cornerstone of his campaign (i.e. Vietnam). Since I am not a veteran and I was not there, I will not join the fray. Instead, I will leave it to the American people to decide if they believe the 254 members of Swiftboat Veterans for Truth who claim that Kerry has distorted his service record or the 11 or so vets on his campaign payroll who say he is telling the truth. However, I will certainly question what John Kerry did when he came home after his semester in Vietnam. Timothy McVeigh was a decorated vet from the first Gulf War but we don't remember him for that.

Recently, the Kerry/Edwards Campaign has been forced to admit that he did, in fact, meet with an official from North Vietnam in 1970 while he was still a Naval Officer and obviously while we were still at war. In fact, The blockbuster book by John O'Neil, Unfit for Command, details this meeting at length. Furthermore, Kerry's involvement with the Vietnam Veterans Against the War and the Winter Soldier effort (both heavily supported by Jane Fonda) we now know served as great inspiration to our enemy at the time. Another image in O'neil's book shows a museum in North Vietnam dedicated to the heroes of theirs. Included are pictures of Fidel Castro, Mao Tse Tung and John Kerry.

Thus, it matters not to me what happened during the four months John Kerry spent speeding downriver in a swiftboat. What does matter is how he undermined our troops as a member of VVAW and later as a member of the Senate.

Waiting to Emerge

Mr. Kerry was no doubt looking forward to Democrat Convention Week with great anticipation as it was to be the birth of a new optimism for his campaign.  However, after the week he has had, I suspect that he is just hoping to wiggle out of the tight spot he has made for himself.  It has been a rough few days.  The distinguished Senator decided to make a campaign stop in Cape Canaveral to play dress-up for some publicity photos (link to these photos on the arrow next to the title of this blog entry).  He never suspected he would generate his own Dukakis Moment.

After cleaning the pipes for NASA, Kerry decided to go to a Red Sox game where he hoped to see his favorite player, Eddie Yost, play.  Unfortunately, his handlers forgot to tell him that Yost not only no longer plays baseball but he never actually played for the Red Sox.  Nonetheless, Kerry was invited to throw out the first pitch.  He was obviously anxious to do this since he had seen the President throw a perfect strike at the World Series to thunderous adulation.  However, Kerry did not realize that this is the big leagues and the plate is 60 feet, 6 inches from the mound.  He one-hopped it to the plate throwing what is quite conceivably the worst lob ever thrown.

Meanwhile, wife Teresa Heinz Kerry was lying about using the words, "Un-American" in a speech and telling the reporter who called her on it to "shove it" while Michael Moore and the Grassy Knoll Wing of the party were taking over the convention.

After the week he has had, Kerry may want to find a hole in which to crawl.

Dems Defend the Indefensible

Sandy Berger who was Bill Clinton's National Security Advisor and who was (until yesterday) a top advisor to the Kerry/Edwards Campaign has been caught red-handed stealing top secret documents from the National Archives.  He has even admitted to taking the classified documents and attributed it to being "sloppy".  The leftist media dutifully joined the chorus echoing this defense until it was further learned that National Archive personnel observed Mr. Berger stuffing the documents in his socks and even down his pants.  Now, if Clinton himself were the one enhancing his package with top secret documents, then the "sloppy" defense might still stand-up.  However, it doesn't fly for Berger.  Thus the Democrats and the media have switched to the "kill the messenger" defense going so far as to say (in the words of Dan Rather) that the reporting of this investigation was, "A well orchestrated Leak" by the Republicans.  Of course, the fact that there is no evidence that any Republican had anything to do with the release of this information cannot stand in the way of their attempts to spin this slime away from their boys.   They also ignore the fact that the Bush Administration had not even been briefed by the Justice Department prior to the scandal hitting the media.

The Kerry/Edwards campaign insists that they knew nothing of this investigation into Berger's nefarious activities (though Bill Clinton claimed today in the Denver Post that he has known of the investigation for months) .  In fact John Kerry stated that, "I didn't have a clue".  Kerry further claims that, top campaign advisor Sandy Berger did not present any of the stolen information to him.  However, the Kerry/Edwards campaign acted quickly today to alter their website to remove a transcript of a December 2003 speech made by Kerry which referenced national security weaknesses in our seaports and airports.  Just coincidentally (I am sure), at least one of the documents that was pilfered referenced the very same issues of sea and air vulnerabilities.   Fortunately, some savvy websites have retrieved these speeches and thus the evidence has been preserved.

We have all long suspected that the Democrats will go to any length to regain their power no matter how their actions might damage our country or our national security.  Now we have a glaring and blatant example of this.
